History
In 1955 the state of Florida created the Sarasota Manatee Airport Authority and the opening of a new terminal in 1959. Even though the first commercial service began in 1940.
In 1992 Sarasota Bradenton International airport became an international airport when the U.S. customs service designated it for ” Point of entry” status
In 2002 the runway was extended to 9,500 feet and again redone to handle most commercial jet airplanes as well as private jet service.
Today the airport is under going more improvements to satisfy the growing needs of the local communities.

You can reach most locations from Sarasota Bradenton International Airport rather quickly.

Checking in at the Airport
Ticket counters open 2 hours before check in. However the TSA security checkpoint is open from 3:30 A.M. to 9:00 P.M. for your convenience and most airlines offer online check in service.
Baggage Claim
At the airport like most things the baggage claim is just a short walk from the arrival gate. The airport offers luggage carts for a small fee.

Pre-Security
You have Dunkin for coffee breakfast and donuts. Equally if you want frozen yogurts ice cream or smoothies than Freshens is there for you.
On the other hand if you want a sandwich, salad or an entree you can order at Dewar’s Clubhouse. In addition to an adult beverage. Likewise Dewar’s To Go also serves food to take with you.
Post Security
There is several choices for food such as Jimmy Johns with both breakfast. lunch and dinner sandwiches.
You also have The Kona bar with craft beers or The Gulf Breeze Cafe offering a full menu of salads, sandwiches and a full bar.
However if you want something quick you have the Dunkin Express or the Beach Market Cafe with snacks or bakery goods.

The ATMs are located near the westside of baggage at the airport. They also have a cash to card machine near the Delta check in counter.
